Collector Corvette restored for Teammates for Kids Foundation auction
1982 Collector Edition Corvette will be auctioned during Corvette Funfest 2011
Effingham, Ill. (07/25/2011) – Teammates for Kids Foundation and Mid America Motorworks are proud to announce the completion of an interior restoration on a 1982 Collector Edition Corvette. The Collector Edition Corvette will be auctioned off during Corvette Funfest 2011 at Mid America Motorworks' corporate campus in Effingham, Ill.
Garth Brooks co-founded the Teammates for Kids Foundation in 1999 to develop and implement innovative concepts that generate funds for the benefit of children’s charities that focus on health, education and inner city outreach programs. Twice each year the Teammates for Kids Foundation conducts an auction to aide in their fundraising efforts. Since 1999, the foundation has donated over $83 million in cash, scholarships and gifts in kind to deserving charities in all 50 states, 10 Canadian Provinces and over 60 countries around the world.
PERFORMANCE CHOICE, the manufacturing division of Mid America Motorworks, installed a new interior to prepare the Corvette for the September auction. The interior restoration included new carpet throughout, floor mats, door panels, seat covers, seat foam and more. Mid America Motorworks is a leading supplier and manufacturer of products for all models of Corvettes, including one-year and collector Corvettes, such as the 1982 Collector Edition, all Anniversary Editions and the 2004 Commemorative Edition Corvette.
The 1982 Collector Edition Corvette was donated to the Teammates for Kids Foundation with 46,000 original miles. It is number 5,901 of 6,759 Collector Edition Corvettes made in 1982. Before arriving at Mid America Motorworks, it received a paint job to restore the original silver-beige metallic paint. The Collector Edition has several unique features, including a frameless glass lift-up hatch, special finned wheels and distinctive cloisonné emblems.
Corvette Funfest 2011 is scheduled for Sept. 15-18, 2011. Each year, thousands of Corvette enthusiasts converge on Mid America Motorworks' campus to celebrate America's Sportscar with expert seminars, corporate tours and headlining Saturday evening entertainment.
